We are so proud of this product; not only did it win the UK’s Best Flavoured Gin at the 2020 World Vodka Awards, it changes peoples perception on a day-by-day basis of what a spirit drink can be. Removing the “gin botanicals” completely, our Head Distiller started to blend our hedgerow ingredients and came up with this amazing recipe. With it’s fruity but dry nose, smoothness on the palate and lasting finish, it really does blur the lines between gin and vodka.

Nose – fruity & herbal notes, with subtle woody and sweet tones.

Palate – rich & dry, with herbal and fruit notes, including elderflower and crab apple

Finish – dry with a lasting gentle fruit smoothness.

Botanicals

Six botanicals foraged from the farm and local hedgerows: crab apple, rosehip, elderflower, nettle leaf & wildflower meadow hay. Sloe stones from the spent sloes from our sloe gin.

Perfect Serve

Mediterranean tonic, garnish with fresh mint and lots of ice.

Vodka, but not as we know it

We know what to expect from vodka - little distinctive taste, so it can work in the background of many different drinks. We know the flavour characters of gin, and what goes well with it. Here we have a vodka with added flavours -but definitely not a straightforward gin replacement. The taste to get used to is crab apple, I think,a bit like apple, but with tannin, very dry. On its own, or with a mixer, I found the crab apple too much. But I'm finding it makes an interesting "negroni" where the other ingredients can fight it out with the tannin.
