Wild Foods Day

Wild Foods Day

As we enjoy the crunch of leaves underfoot and the crisp cool air of Autumn, we mark our calendars for the annual celebration of Wild Foods Day on October 28th. This day is not just an opportunity to explore the vast array of edible plants and fungi found in the wild; it’s a call to reconnect with nature and appreciate the sustainable practices that can bring us closer to the world around us.

Wild Foods Day celebrates the diversity and richness of food sources available in the natural environment. Supporting sustainability through foraging, encouraging a closer relationship with our environment, and highlighting the importance of conservation and respect for natural habitats. Whether it’s your first time, or you’re a seasoned forager, Wild Foods Day is the perfect occasion to explore nature’s kitchen.

Our Hedgerow Gin is a classic juniper led gin, inspired by the hedgerows of North Yorkshire where we have abundant botanicals to add subtle tones and flavours. On the basis of what grows together, goes together, we went back to the hedges for inspiration. We forage six botanicals from the farm and local hedgerows: crab apple, rosehip, elderflower, nettle leaf & wildflower meadow hay. Our small team of foragers are careful to only pick what is safe and sustainable, to respect the area where they forage and to leave enough for local wildlife.

Always remember to forage responsibly, The Woodland Trust provides safe practice guidelines for foraging:
