Saturday 6th May is the coronation of The King and Queen at Westminster Abbey. The event will be celebrated with local and national events across the country and a concert at Windsor Castle. The Conductor John Eliot Gardiner will lead the Monteverdi Choir at the coronation concert. He has reportedly said that Charles asked him to perform while sipping on “large G&T’s” – that’s our kind of party!
To toast the new King Charles III and Queen Camilla we have joined up with The Uncommon to enable you to enjoy a truly regal cocktail over the bank holiday weekend. Sparkling wine is a close second to gin when it comes to our favourite tipple, so we love to combine the two! The Sloe-Royale is a gorgeous mix of bubbly wine and our Sloe Gin. This is where it all began for us. Conservation work on Green farm ended up yielding lots of fruit on the hedges which gave us an idea for a business! Twenty years on we’re still making our Sloe Gin in the same way; hand-picked, hedgerow fruit steeped in our own Hedgerow Gin with a bit of sugar – how our country fore-fathers have made it for generations. It’s velvety, rich and jammy with hints of juniper.
The Uncommon produce their own English wine in cans. They say “Some believed English wine would never be good enough. Some still believe great wines should not be canned. With growing conditions similar to Champagne 50 years ago and the evolution of new technology, we knew it was the perfect time to push England’s young wine industry into new territory. In 2017, with 5 tonnes of Bacchus grapes we seized the opportunity to crush preconceptions and became the first in the UK to can English wine. In 2022, we are still the very finest by bringing you award-winning wines in the unexpected ways. Without compromise. The can is just the start.”
A 250ml can of The Uncommon bubbly white wine with a 25ml measure of our Sloe Gin is a truly regal toast to the new King and Queen. Purchase a Sloe Gin 50cl and receive two cans of The Uncommon for £32 with free P&P. This offer is available from 28th April until 26th May 2023.
If you’re all partied-out after the Coronation weekend, thousands of organisations and individuals are getting together to help out in our local communities - The Big Help Out is on May 8th. Everyone is encouraged to join in by visiting the app and volunteering for any of the opportunities in your area – all ages, all skills and even just one hour of your time will help. “Lend a hand.
