Inspiring Ideas for Spring

We’re excited to see the first daffodils opening, patches of snow drops and even a few purple crocus. March 20th is the vernal equinox, the first day of Spring according to the astronomical calendar. Here at Sloemotion, we’ve thought of 5 inspiring ideas now the days are getting (a little) warmer and a teeny bit longer.

Go for a walk in nature

There’s still a nip in the air but the wind is calmer and the sunshine is a warm glow on our faces. A walk in nature is free (apart from a car-park ticket and maybe an ice cream afterwards!) but reconnecting with nature and walking in green spaces can boost energy levels and raise spirits (not the bottled kind, the other type!) and make you smile 😊

Watch the sun set

To sit quietly and enjoy the vibrant colours splash across the sky (preferably with a drink in hand) and to see the beauty of nature as one giant canvas is awe inspiring. At the spring equinox day and night will be of equal length with the promise of lighter evenings on the horizon.

Make a Spring Cocktail

We LOVE a cocktail and are full of great recipe ideas for you to try! The aptly name Bee’s Knees with a touch of honey or The Apple of Your Eye with cloudy apple juice – both made using our classic juniper led gin inspired by the hedgerows and abundant botanicals of North Yorkshire. Simple to make, gorgeous flavours and lovely to enjoy with friends and family.

Visit your local Farm shop

There are so many great reasons to visit your local farm shop – reducing your food miles, supporting local businesses and economy, cutting down on food waste and trying new products. A great alternative to your weekly supermarket shop.

Composting at Home

We’re big believers in composting here at Green Farm. Our cardboard, used botanicals and fruit are all composted on site. It’s easy to have your own compost at home and Spring is a great time to start. Composting your kitchen and garden waste is a great way of improving the soil in your garden for free.
